Parenting FAIL Friday: Pride goeth before the fall.

I’ve failed to do a FAIL Friday post in a while. Which, if you think about it, is kind of fitting. At least that’s what I tell myself. Just smile and nod.

I was wracking my brain all week trying to think of a good post for this. Because, you know, I’ve kept you waiting.

But hard as I tried, all I could think was that with the changes I’ve been making in homeschooling Goo, food victories, scheduling, etc, I just haven’t had many epic parenting fails. I’m getting too good at this whole stay at home mom thing.

*Point and laugh here*

Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goeth before destruction.” Indeed.

In one of my super great mom moments, I decided to give Goo a full-fledged manicure with finger soaking, buffing, cuticle trimming, and rainbow nail polish with sparkles. Smush was playing, so I had some mommy-Goo time, and had just finished up my handiwork when Smush came barreling in exclaiming, “Hey! I want mail polish, too! I do it myself!”

Let me think about it … no.

She snatched up a nail polish, I snatched it back, put it away, and avoided what would certainly have been a body painting extravaganza. Mediocre Mom – 1, Smush – 0. Heh.

And then Goo piped up, “Umm, Mommy, did you see what she did to her face?”

Ohemgee your eye fell out! Oh wait, that’s just nail polish.

Note to self: when snatching nail polish, make sure the brush isn’t in the baby’s other hand.
